I'll dominate 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-bout contest which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants met personally to build hype for next month's boxing match.
Ex two-time world title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth disparity - at Miami arena on December 19th.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will injure his face and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, declared.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's my intention."
Civil Exchange
In spite of such comments, a calm Joshua and social media star Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "not serious" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK rival Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's boxing ability.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.
Jake Paul's History
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mainly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's largest commercial attractions, consistently making huge paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.
"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.
Size Disparity
As the two fighters engaged in the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the bout is truly proceeding.
